[Salon] Was President Isaac Herzog Looking in the Mirror?

FM: John Whitbeck

Israeli President Isaac Herzog has made a remarkable accusation/admission (https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/oct/16/the-language-being-used-to-describe-palestinians-is-genocidal):

"It's an entire nation out there that is responsible. This rhetoric about civilians not aware, not involved, it's absolutely not true. They could've risen up, they could have fought against that evil regime."

Of course, President Herzog was seeking to excuse and justify Israel's recent mass slaughter of Palestinian civilians and the even more massive slaughters which appear to be planned.

Yet is he so intellectually limited that he could not realize that precisely the same words could be used to justify the slaughter of Israeli civilians by Palestinian resistance fighters?

Indeed, precisely that excuse and justification was presumably in the minds of those Hamas fighters who broke out of their prison and entered Israel on October 7.
